For now May 9 will go down in the memory of Ghanaians as another 'black' day especially Residents of Sekondi-Takoradi as they woke up to a sad news of fire explosion at GHUMCO, a Chinese company on the Effia Nkwanta – Takoradi Technical University stretch.
Commuters of the stretch were stopped from using the busy road which leads to the Takoradi Container Therminal as fire service are struggling to contain the inferno.
Reports says that there was a tanker driver offloading gas at GHUMCO to their storage tank for production, the tank got full but the driver ignored and kept filling when he later realised was over-filled, he took to his heels leaving the tube there which caused the fire and later the explosion.

Closed to 60 people have sustained various degrees of injuries, eye witnesses at the venue told www.kwamelegend.com
The victims have been rushed to the New Takoradi and GPHA hospitals for treatment.
